MBA Operational Strategy

Diamond Inc.

Isao Endo

In this time of market maturity, demand is not only diverse, but also changing at a dizzying pace. For companies to win this cut-throat competition, they must strengthen their linkages beyond functions and corporate departments, become leaner, and raise their overall corporate competitive ability and productivity. A company's fate rests on its ability to unite, listen to the market, read the changes, and both create what consumers want and provide it faster than the competition. In the past, operations were generally described in terms of function and departments. This book divides the business chain into five modules: CRM, SCM, procurement, R&D and management and staff operations. It then analyzes the issues and the direction of reform in each and their relationships, stressing that it is important for Japanese corporations to rebuild their physiques.
