Globalization is an issue of great importance for all Japanese companies. The annual Davos World Economic Forum, bringing together business and political elite from around the world, in addition to its networking worth is also a fine opportunity for global corporate leaders to put their skills to the test. Davos provides a simulated “advisory board” for executives to obtain precious pointers on their own management strategies from key sources, and may also be utilized as a “training ground” to help cultivate next-generation global managers. Traveling to Davos this year was President Shunichi Matsui of Mitsubishi International GmbH of Germany, accompanying Mitsubishi Corporation Chairman Yorihiko Kojima (one of the Co-chairs). For this edition of Business Perspectives, we asked Mr. Matsui about the significance and value of Japanese business leaders in pursuit of true globalization taking part in this forum, and directions in which the experience can be utilized.
