Dirk Vaubel received his PhD in Law from the Universities of Munich and Paris, his MBA from the University of Munich and qualified as a lawyer in Munich. Following this, he studied Japanese at Osaka University of Foreign Studies and commercial law at Tohoku University. Prior to joining Roland Berger, he headed the Tokyo office of one of the world's leading law firms and was also the Japan representative of a major German consumer goods manufacturer.

A partner in Roland Berger's Tokyo office since its establishment, he specializes in developing strategies that link Japan and the rest of the world, including cross-border management, M&A and partnering strategy, Japan entry strategy and European entry strategy.
